Purpose

Our goal is to curate and create content that assists the mental health journeys of individuals exploring their relationship to OCPD traits, whether that be through a process of self-diagnosis or pursuing an official diagnosis from mental health professionals.

We are fellow peers, each with our own set of respective diagnoses and personal stories. We contribute our time, resources, and lived experience with OCPD on a volunteer basis, all with the goal of increasing global awareness, tools, and communities of support for those struggling with the OCPD.

Overview

In 2020, while still a student at Utah Valley University, Greg created a small book club based on “The Healthy Compulsive” by Gary Trosclair. In the initial days, as this Zoom-based support group grew organically, Cale joined and quickly volunteered to serve as an additional peer facilitator.

At the peak of global pandemic, and with “shelter in place” orders firmly in place, Cale & Greg had the admittedly less than novel idea of creating an OCPD-centric podcast all with the hopes of increasing the reach of their efforts. The podcast took on the moniker of “You, Me, & OCPD” and, after a slew of podcast episodes were recorded, social media channels and a website were secured, it promptly went nowhere. Cale was subsequently diagnosed with Combined Type ADHD which more than likely explains why this fantastic idea failed to reach fruition.

From these humble beginnings, the support group continued to grow and change over time. The discussion topics have since expanded beyond the scope of the original book club to include lesser known aspects of the OCPD experience like: the prevalence of misophonia, consumer psychology/frugality, and therapeutic resistance, just to name a few. Today the group regularly welcomes attendees from over a dozen countries and timezones.

With the relaunch of the OCPD.org website in the fall of 2023 increasing the visibility of the online meetings, Greg & Cale decided it was time to reinvest their efforts and finally utilize the “You, Me, & OCPD” volunteer collective as a hub for coordinating meeting logistics and providing core resources for attendees.

Who is Greg?

Greg serves as peer-facilitator and academic outreach coordinator.

He is a Pushcart-prize nominated poet, amateur juggler, and crochet quitter. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2023 from Utah Valley University, which qualifies him to do almost nothing except be enthusiastic about mental health.

Who is Cale?

Cale serves as peer-facilitator and content curator and (eventual) creator.

When not pondering all things psychology and mental health, Cale can be found professionally obsessing over the tiniest details in his career as a multimedia artist. He’s a digital creative with a passion for learning, listening to audiobooks, and making lists in an attempt to remember all of it. If you want to dive into the full lore, stay tuned for more posts about Cale’s backstory and how that shapes his approach to navigating his personal mental health journey.
